Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. she is currently president and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is the daughter of a California native, and was raised by a well-off family. The father of her Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon, who was later the proprietor of the Lakers and other sports businesses. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated after her parents split in the year 1972. When she was 19, she was employed within the family's company. Later, she founded in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional, roller-hockey club. Before becoming vice president for the Lakers, she served as president of the Great Western Forum. Her father died in 2013, and the control for the Lakers was inherited by Buss and her five siblings through a family trust with each sibling having equal voting rights. Buss was elected in 2013 to take charge of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss was also a part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
