April Ross, a beach volleyball player from the United States, is among a select group of women who have had medals won in more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold medal in the next couple of days. In addition, Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. Perhaps it is her last chance at winning, as she's 39 old. But she's still confident of achieving top honours. Ross was mentioned on NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. Also, I'll take the opportunity to try my luck. Ross, who was born 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in the sports of Newport Harbor High School. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. In addition to playing indoor volleyball, she also ran track and basketball as a pre-collegiate athlete. When she played in the final sport she stood out. According to her bio her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). In recognition of her accomplishments she was awarded the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. Also, in 2000 she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman may have begun working together at the beginning of 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned athlete at the beach prior to when they joined forces. In reality, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was an all-star volleyball player. Ross teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's trainer. Kessy and Ross were strong on the international arena, taking home the world championship in 2009 together. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they received the gold medal. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor after she had retired. Together, they won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Following high school, and for a few many years before hitting the sand as a pro Ross balled out for the USC Trojans as an collegiate. The Trojans had a great career for Ross in the college level. As a freshmen in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans to make it to their first Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to be a second All-American. In her last two seasons within the team, she guided the Trojans to the top of the mountain netting consecutive national championships. For her part she established herself as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the most outstanding female volleyball players at colleges across the country. Ross was a USC international relations student, was a volleyball star. Sadly, Ross mother Margie was not able to witness Ross's daughter reach the highest levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001, when Ross was still a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. As a result, Ross is still close to her deceased parent. Margie, on the beach as well as in her everyday life, continues to inspire her.
