Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style which combines R&B with soul, gospel music, and R&B. Avery Sunshine's performances have been on Broadway and at festivals in Europe, as well as performing at Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has the name Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career playing piano and singing in church. After graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she started her journey in music on the Atlanta's R&B musical scene. The first track to showcase her vocals was Stalk You, a Japanese house 12 track. Since then, it was remixed and has become a part of her repertoire. She also contributed to The Fighting Temptations soundtrack. She became the primary keyboardist at Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 about serving as Choral Director of Dreamgirls, the theatre production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national attention during four daily performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
