John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit through his songs of pop-folk, many of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., born Henry John Deutschendorf in Roswell near New Mexico, fell in Love with Colorado. The place he settled was Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado have been a major influence on many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado as John Denver." Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado for a lot of people all over the world. Through my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell them you're from Colorado The first thing they'll say is Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief period of performing with small folk groups included Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver heard an early version immediately, he realized the song could be a hit single. Following the performance in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver made a recording a few days later.
